Carrer de n'Arai 3 was built at the end of the nineteenth century and once used to be the home of well-to-do Catalans. This class moved over half a century ago to other parts of town, and other tenants moved in.

In the last decade leases aren't renewed since it's more interesting for the owners to have an empty building, so it can be sold and transformed into a hotel. In June 2014 we photographed all the tenants who still live there (and one of the two empty and sealed apartments) and recorded the environment to document a Barcelona that's vanishing rapidly.
